The Tehran Museum of Contemporary Arts is to review the history of Persian calligraphy painting in an exhibition presenting works by veteran contemporary artists.
The event will present a collection of calligraphy paintings representing the evolution of the art form in Iran over the past fifty years, Mehr News Agency reported.
“Although there are many artists creating Persian calligraphic painting in Iran, the art form has not received the attention it deserves,” the museum said in a press release on Monday.
“It has not even been introduced as an independent art form and is either categorized as painting or calligraphy,” it added.
The exhibition aims to provide an opportunity for art lovers and critics to enjoy and analyze the unique art form.
Calligraphy painting is an innovative blending of traditional calligraphy with modern painting techniques.
