A top Iranian military official lauds the country's high potential in the field of anti-aircraft radars, saying Iran will produce a radar system with the capability to intercept radar-evading planes.

A deputy commander at Khatam al-Anbiya Anti-Aircraft Artillery Base Brig. Gen. Mohammad Hassan Mansourian told IRNA on Tuesday that the base is currently working on a system which will produce a radar capable of intercepting radar-evading planes.

He added that Iran has gained valuable experience manufacturing anti-aircraft systems over the past three decades since the victory of the Islamic Revolution and currently enjoys a high deterrent capability among regional countries to counter any possible threats posed by enemies.

The commander noted that Iranian experts have achieved great progress in the defense industry, saying, “The anti-aircraft system of the country is moving in a progressive way.”

Mansourian's remarks came after Deputy Commander for Operations of the Islamic Republic of Iran's Air Force (IRIAF) General Mohammad Alavi said on Sunday that the IRIAF has managed to produce domestically-manufactured smart weaponry, including new cruise missiles.

Iran has mass-produced and test-fired new cruise missiles which have the capability to destroy naval targets, he added.

The top Iranian commander warned that Iran's Air Force is fully prepared to “strongly counter any threat.”
