A senior Iranian lawmaker has refuted Bahrain's meddling accusations against the Islamic Republic, stressing that the Bahraini government should instead observe the rights of Bahrainis.

“The Bahraini parliament has turned into a loudspeaker for the United States and Saudi Arabia,” said a member of the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of the Iranian Parliament (Majlis), Parviz Sorouri, on Sunday.

He expressed regret that instead of defending the rights of the Bahraini people, members of Bahrain's parliament are reflecting US and Saudi demands, Majlis news agency (ICANA) reported.

“Members of the Bahraini parliament had better open up their eyes to realities and to see the occupiers in their country and recognize the true meddlers,” the Iranian lawmaker emphasized.

Anti-government protests against the rule of the Al Khalifa dynasty in Bahrain began in mid-February.

In March, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait deployed their troops in crisis-hit Bahrain to reinforce the brutal armed crackdown on Bahraini protesters.

Scores of protesters have been killed and many others have gone missing during the harsh crackdowns.

Most Bahraini media outlets have been blocked and several mosques have been demolished by the Bahraini government.

Amnesty International and the Human Rights Watch have also condemned the Bahraini and Saudi regimes for their heavy-handed tactics against the Bahraini population.
