Win brings title within Sepahan's grasp

Sepahan has edged pass Naft Abadan in the 32nd week of the Iranian Premier League (IPL) to get closer to its second successive league championship.
Amir Qalenoei's side defeated Naft 1-0 at Abadan's Takhti Stadium on Friday to stand only one point to the IPL trophy with two matches remaining in the season.
The Isfahan-based titleholder possessed the ball and the field in the early minutes until Mehdi Karimian headed in the solo thanks to a long cross by Mehdi Jafarpour in the 21st minute.
In other matches on Friday, bottom-rooted Steel Azin beat Malavan 1-0, Rah Ahan defeated Naft Tehran with the same result, the match between Saipa and Peykan ended in a 1-1 draw, and Pas and Shahrdari also settled for a 1-1 draw.
Earlier on Thursday, Tehran giants Esteqlal and Persepolis both tied scoreless against their rivals Shahin and Mes, and Zob Ahan and Foulad were held in a 1-1 stalemate.
In the last match of the week, Teraktorsazi will take on Saba on Sunday.
Sepahan is leading the table with 65 points, six points more than Esteqlal in the second place. Zob Ahan stands third with 57 and Persepolis is fourth with 54 points.
If Sepahan gets only one point from its upcoming league matches against Persepolis and Saipa, it will automatically crown as the league champion for the second time in a row.
