Iran's International Computer Game Expo and Festival has kicked off in the capital city of Tehran, hosting game designers from Iran and other countries.

The event, held in an area of 5,000 square meters, presents the latest computer game technologies developed by Iranian and international designers in six sections.

Game designers from 7 countries have participated in the exhibition and will introduce their products along with their Iranian competitors in Family, Games and Entertainment, A World without Computer Games, Products, Technology and Student Products categories.

Some 262 products have been submitted to the festival which will have competition and noncompetition sections.

The selection committee has chosen 92 products to compete in four competition categories of Big Game (long games), Small Game (short games), Online Game and Mobile Game.

“As the number of Iranian products and their quality are of high value, the exhibition can be a good opportunity for game designers to interact and pave the grounds for introducing their products to the international audience,” said festival secretary Behrouz Minayi.

Referring to the cultural effects of computer games, Minayi said, “Discovering new talents, attracting producers and distributors of computer games to Iranian products, showcasing potentials of Iranian game designers and expanding interactions with global producers and distributors of computer games are among the most important aims of the exhibition.”

Iran's 2011 International Computer Game Expo and Festival will run until June 1, 2011, at Tehran's Milad Tower, hosting designers from Iran, Germany, Bulgaria, Malaysia, Japan, United Arab Emirates and Lebanon.
