Iranian football team Zobahan has defeated Qatari club Al Rayyan in the 2011 AFC Champions League to extend its lead on top of the Group D.

Zobahan, coached by Mansour Ebrahimzadeh, overpowered its guests 1-0 on Tuesday at Isfahan's Fouladshahr Stadium to become closer to a place in the last 16.

Zobahan striker Esmaeil Farhadi scored the winner midway through the first half with a close range shot into the left corner.

Al Rayyan was reduced to ten when Brazilian defender Moises Pinheiro was sent off in the dying minutes of the match.

The victory put Zobahan atop the Group D table on 10 points and sent the Qatari to the bottom of the group with one point. Emirates is second with six points and Al Shabab sits on the third spot with five.

In the other Group D match of the day, Emirates went past Saudi side Al Shabab 2-1.

Elsewhere in Group B, Iran's Esteqlal lost an away match against Pakhtakor 2-1 in Uzbekistan.

In the 28th minute of the match, a cross found Pakhtakor's Stanislav Andreev unmarked on the edge of the box, and although his first volley hit Esteqlal's defender Pejman Montazeri, his second attempt found the back of the net.

Esteqlal's striker Arash Borhani cancelled out Andreev's opener just before the break, but in the second half Pakhtakor scored the winner on a free kick when Igor Krimets headed the ball into the net.

The goal, which came moments after Esteqlal defender Hanif Omranzadeh was sent off for a second yellow card offence, gave the hosts their first win in the group, after a draw and two defeats.

In the other Group B match of the day, Saudi Arabia's Al Nassr and Qatar's Al Sadd tied 1-1.

Al Sadd now leads the group with eight points, while Al-Nassr ranks second with five. Esteqlal and Pakhtakor have four points each.
