The Iranian football club Sepahan has pummeled the UAE's Al Jazira in its second match in the AFC Champions League 2011, retaining its place at the top of Group A.
Sepahan made it two from two with a 5-1 home victory over Al Jazira on Tuesday at Fouladshahr Stadium in the Isfahan area.
In a one-sided first half, Sepahan took a two-goal lead through midfielder Ahmad Jamshidian's double.
Brazilian striker Bare (Jader Volnei Spindler) pulled one back for Al Jazira in the 54th minute of the match through a left-sided cross from Saleh Obaid to keep his side's hopes alive.
But their joy did not last long as Ibrahima Toure scored his team's third to restore the two-goal cushion for Sepahan two minutes later.
Sepahan scored its fourth goal in the 64th minute when the Al Jazira defense redirected a pass by Toure to the Serbian striker Milorad Janjus, who fired home a right-footed shot.
In the dying minutes of the match, the host added a fifth goal when Javad Kazemian tapped in a pass from Reza Enayati to ensure an easy win.
In its previous Group A match, Sepahan defeated the Saudi giants Al Hilal 2-1 on their own turf in Riyadh.
The Iranian team is on top of the group with six points, and Al Hilal is in second place with three points.
In the other Group A match of the day, Al Hilal defeated Al Gharafa of Qatar through a solo winner by Swedish midfielder Christian Wilhelmsson.
