Iran and Jordan have played to a 1-1 draw in a qualifier for the 2012 London Olympics Women's Football Tournament.

Iran, which pummeled Palestine 4-0 in their opener, held the hosts on Thursday to remain at the top of the table in Group C with four points. Bahrain and Jordan are in second and third place respectively with two points each. Palestine has one point.

Maysa Ziad Mahmoud Jbarah gave the hosts the lead in the 24th-minute but Zahra Hatamnezhad restored parity five minutes from the hour mark.

In another Group C match, Bahrain was also held to a 1-1 draw against Palestine after Nadin Owda's 17th-minute opener for Palestine was cancelled out by Manar Ebrahim Jasim Mohamad Yaqoob three minutes later.

Iran will meet Bahrain in their third and final Group C game on Saturday, while Jordan is scheduled to take on Palestine.

The top two teams from Group C and Group A as well as the winners of Group B will advance to the second round of qualifiers, which is a one-round league format slated for June 3 to 12.

The winners of the second round will join the top five teams of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games — Japan, China, North Korea, South Korea, and Australia — in the final round to be played from September 1 to 11.

The top two finishers will represent Asia at the 2012 London Olympics.
