The Iranian parliament (Majlis) and the Iranian cabinet have held a joint meeting in which President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani discussed the country's economic developments.
The meeting was held upon a request by the administration late on Sunday, IRNA reported.
The implementation of the subsidy reform plan and Iran's Fifth Five-Year Economic Development Plan (2010-2015) were among the topics of discussion.
Larijani earlier welcomed a proposal by President Ahmadinejad which calls for regular meetings between cabinet members and lawmakers, saying, “I welcome Mr. Ahmadinejad's idea about formulating new mechanisms for (increasing) coordination between the branches of the government.”
Iran's Fifth Five-Year Economic Development Plan is part of the 20-Year Outlook Plan (2005-2025), which is the country's main blueprint for long-term sustainable growth.
In late October, the Majlis approved the outlines of the Fifth Economic Development Plan in a vote of 131 to 44, with 17 abstentions.
